Blaenavon Town Council was delighted to welcome representatives from One Voice Wales and Audit Wales to the town for the recording of a special podcast featuring Blaenavon’s Youth Representatives.
The recording provided an opportunity for the young representatives to talk about their experiences, the importance of giving young people a meaningful voice in local decision-making, and their ambitions to make a positive difference within Blaenavon and beyond.
As the first Youth Representatives appointed in Wales, Blaenavon’s young representatives are helping to demonstrate how young people can play an active role in local democracy and contribute their ideas and perspectives to the decisions that affect their communities.
During the podcast, they discussed their role with Blaenavon Town Council and why it is important that young people are given opportunities to engage with their local councils and have their views heard.
The project also provided an opportunity to highlight Blaenavon Town Council’s commitment to encouraging youth participation and creating stronger links between young people and local government.
It is hoped that sharing the experiences of Blaenavon’s Youth Representatives will encourage other young people to become involved in their communities and demonstrate the valuable contribution the younger generation can make to local decision-making.
Blaenavon Town Council would like to thank One Voice Wales and Audit Wales / Archwilio Cymru for visiting Blaenavon and for working collaboratively on this exciting project.
