In recognition of the fact that we have a thriving Camera Club and a wealth of great amateurs in the area, the Town Council is holding its first-ever photography competition.
Great photographers usually get out and about more than most people and we’re hoping the pictures will introduce more of us to the Blaenavon we might never have seen – whether it’s a location, a building or an activity.
The theme for our first competition is ‘Secret Blaenavon’ - where or what is your secret Blaenavon?
Is it a part of the landscape that not many others have seen? Somewhere that few are able to find or have thought about finding? Or is it somewhere that we’ve all seen before but that you’ve looked at from a different angle?
Is it somewhere in the town centre? A building or part of a building that we walk or drive past every day, but don’t properly see? Or is it a group, club, event or activity that only its members really know about? Something that many people have either never heard of or simply know nothing about.
Places, people and animals… tell us your secret.
There a prize of £200 for first place, £100 for second and £50 for third.
And we want to encourage budding snappers as well by offering under-16 prizes of £75, £50 and £25.
The winners will be presented with their prizes at the Council’s annual Civic Awards evening in April 2020, and the winning and commended entries will be displayed in an exhibition at the World Heritage Centre.
You’ve got until March 31, 2020. Get snapping!
